Today was hard on my body. It started off with my usual hike up the hill to Centennial Hall. After German class I had my aerobics class. We did a step core workout and complete ab series. I was certainly sore when I got home. I was nervous all day about the punishment that was to come.
Rob came to pick us up around 5:45pm to take us to Viking PT. I spent the ride trying to calm my mind in preparation. The workout was intense. I worked until failure on every exercise. All major muscle groups were slammed as well as the finite stabilizer muscles. To tell the truth, I'm shocked that I did not pass out or vomit. I felt my eyes roll back into my head several times but I picked the clear spot in the tunnel vision and focused on that to snap me out of fainting. My asthma acted up a bit but I breathed through it without my inhaler.
I really like this workout based on first impressions. It makes you get angry and channel it into your muscle performance. I'll try to list all the exercises, I might forget the names of some or the order though.
Warm up with sword motions
Push ups X 30, X 25, X 20, X 15, X 10, X 5, X 1
Standing torso twists with a staff across the shoulders X 100, Rob and Dave did this with a 45 lbs barbell.
Grip with fingers until failure 25 lbs plates. Its harder than it looks. Brent tested the strength of my grip before he allowed me to try this. I passed.
Squat jumps with medicine ball, not sure of the weight. It was heavy. X 30
Step touch X 100. I did 150. Stand still in front of a box and lift knees alternately to touch feet to the box. Its like running in place with high knees and a target to put your feet. The boys did X 200.
30/30 squats. Get down into deep squat position and hold for 30 seconds all together as a group. Next you squat in time with each other for 30 more seconds, the slowest member of the group sets the cadence. You go directly back into the deep squat position and hold for 30 seconds and repeat the whole process.
Crunches with arms at sides X 30
Crunches with right foot over left knee, left hand behind the head, crunch across to touch left elbow to right knee. Repeat for opposite side X 30 each side.
Crunches with arms stretched out above head and brought in at the same time as bringing in the knees. Crunching into a ball X 30.
Leg lifts. arms down, hands under bottom, lift legs together and lower to 6 inches off the ground X 30
I feel like I'm forgetting something. I'm exhausted and very sore. I had 2 intense workouts today and I am sure to feel it in the morning. I was slow at this but I finished. Everyone was very encouraging and motivating. I have decided to go back again on Tuesday for another go at it.
I want to thank Brent for allowing me to join in, for his patience, and his expert instruction. Rob for coming to get us and also for his encouragement. Dave for his motivation and taking the time to show me how to do the exercises. Jarvis for hanging in there with me. Zac for trying this with me and his his continuous faith he has in me.
